18 Aug 2016 Economic conference meeting in abp beijing
ABP Beijing held an economic conference meeting on 19 July 2016 at which speakers from across China were joined by important guests from London.
The event, at the ABP Maya Island Conference Centre, was held to mark the 13th anniversary of the founding of ABP. The local MP for the Royal Docks, Stephen Timms, was one of the guest speakers along with Daniel Bridge, Principal Development Manager at the Greater London Authority and Neil Robinson, ABP Global Director of Communications. The session was chaired by ABP Chairman Xu Weiping.
The debate focussed on the impact of economic globalisation on head office business districts and the international economic advantages of the China’s ‘One Belt One Road’ policy to assist companies to go global and reach new markets.
Stephen Timms MP told the conference that global economic development can benefit cities and regions and he said more needed to be done to attract companies to London from China.
Xu Weiping told the conference that clustering head offices of companies in a single business district led to effective economic development and this phenomenon had interested academics across China but also at Harvard University in the USA and at Cambridge University in the UK.
Now, plans are being made for a full summit to debate the themes from the conference and this is scheduled for October.
